2 Evolutionary computing
Evolutionary computing, inspired by Darwinian theory of evolution, simulates evolutionary mechanisms in computer programming — specifically selection of the fittest, genetic re-combinations and mutations. Candidate solutions are generated and, with considerable computing power, subjected to testing and retesting while evolving. Optimized solutions are reached which — especially when applied in complex situations — are superior to solutions reached by traditional programming.
3 Optimization
Codefarm uses the word “optimization” spelt with a “z” to distinguish it from more casual uses of the word. Optimization is a technical word meaning the best solution to an intractable problem (a problem without a clear, definitive solution).
