Business Analyst
Profile
In this position you will be working within the Product Management team responsible for the design and development of Galapagos products. You will be required to streamline the enrichment of the existing services and the identification of new market opportunities.
This is an important hands-on role with a dynamic, creative and technically excellent company with the potential to make a valuable contribution to its successful growth of a rapidly expanding company.
Key Responsibilities
Analysing and evaluating requirements in the release process of our existing services
- Responding to customer enhancement request
- Translating enhancement requests into development requests
- Supporting the Product Manager in ensuring on-time, on-spec and on-budget delivery of releases
- Educating the Sales and Customer Services teams on the advantages and additional strengths of new releases
- Analysing market opportunities for enhancements to our existing services or new services
Secondary Responsibilities Include
- Supporting the Consultancy team in producing bespoke development offers that involve prototyping enhancements
- Supporting the QA Manager in defining test scripts for releases
- Supporting the Documentation Manager in producing user documentation for releases
- Supporting the Marketing Manager in producing marketing material for existing and new services
Typical Tasks
- Determining market needs through meetings with (prospective) customers and industry influencers supplemented by research of sector trends
- Explaining the Road Map and communicating target dates for enhancement requests to customers
- Categorising enhancement requests and getting time estimates for them
- Supporting sales in certain customer meetings
- Presenting new releases to Customer Services and Sales teams
- Participating in release planning meetings with Development, QA and Documentation

Skills
- Highly numerate with strong academic background – good degree in maths/sciences/economics/finance or other analytical subject

Experience
3+ years’ experience in business analysis, business development or technical marketing within high-value software or service businesses
- Track record of direct involvement in complex sales processes – as sales support
- 2+ years’ experience of working directly with a product development team
- Been involved in the successful launch of a major software product to a blue-chip customer base
- Knowledge of the investment banking or fund management sectors, particularly fixed income / credit / derivatives
- Experience of working in a small business or a small independent subsidiary
